Advance interoperability and data exchange using X-Road

Planning

In 2024, the Government of Guatemala entered into an agreement with the e-Governance Academy of Estonia to implement the X-Road data exchange platform within the country. This initiative aims to establish a national interoperability platform leveraging the digital public good of X-Road. The project will also focus on enhancing the knowledge and capabilities of national institutions regarding secure and standardized data exchange procedures and the deployment of digital public infrastructure. Through these efforts, the initiative is expected to create a conducive environment for the effective implementation of X-Road, ultimately facilitating seamless data sharing across various sectors.

X - Road solution will be implemented in partnership with e Government Academy (eGA) and the European Union funding. Specific pilots for sectors such as social protection, education and environment will be implemented with the support of UN agencies such as UNDP, UNICEF and UNESCO.

Enhancing knowledge and capacity building related to DPI

Planning

The activity focuses on enhancing knowledge and capacity building related to Digital Public Infrastructure and Digital Public Goods (DPI/DPG) for the members of the digital transformation committee within the Modernization Committee (Ministry of Finance, Private Secretariat of the Presidency, Telecommunications Superintendency, Vice Ministry of Technologies of the Ministry of Interior, Vice Ministry of Communications, National Cybersecurity Committee, Presidential Commission for Open and Electronic Government). This initiative aims to equip the members of the digital transformation committee of the modernization committee with a comprehensive understanding of DPI and DPG, their significance, and importance in supporting their national deployment. It includes training sessions, workshops on the DPI roadmap, capacity building for DPI advocacy, and collaboration with DPGA members and solutions.

Exploration of new DPGs for adoption by the Government of Guatemala

Planning

The activity focuses on the exploration of new Digital Public Goods (DPGs) for potential adoption by the Government of Guatemala. This initiative aims to identify, assess, and prioritize innovative DPGs that can enhance public service delivery and support the country's digital transformation efforts, particularly around digital payments, digital identity, and cyber security. The exploration process will involve workshops, expert consultations, and pilot projects to test the feasibility and impact of selected DPGs within local contexts. Ultimately, this activity seeks to create a roadmap for integrating effective DPGs into government operations.
