Planning

Malawi is implementing an Open Source Comprehensive Electronic Medical Record and Information Management System built on top of OpenMRS, OpenELIS, Dcm4chee and Odoo for clinics and hospitals, designed for low resource environments. Ministry of health is already implementing the Electronic Medical Record System (EMRS) in all the major health facilities in Malawi. The EMRS is a system based on OpenEMR, an open source electronic health records and medical practice management application. The EMRS will be customized to integrate Unique Identification Number (UID) from the National Registration and Identification System.
