Open Knowledge Foundation joins the Digital Public Goods Alliance

Today, the Digital Public Goods Alliance welcomes the Open Knowledge Foundation as our latest member.

The mission of the Open Knowledge Foundation is to create a fair, sustainable, and open future, advancing open knowledge as a design principle beyond just data. They achieve their mission by creating tools, developing models, harnessing communities, and advocating for standards and policies in a sustainable, ethical, and agile manner.

As part of their membership, they will be developing digital public infrastructure for electoral processes, updating the Open Data Commons, and revisiting the Open Definition. Additionally, their membership builds on their support for CKAN, a free open source Data Management System (DMS) – and a digital public good! – used to build open data portals, whose code is held in trust by the Open Knowledge Foundation.
