Yes

If yes - please link to the relevant copyright, trademarks, or ownership documentation for the project.

Yes the platform donor, implementer and steering committee are noted on the Governance page: https://delvedatabase.org/about/governance . Content on the platform always is published with the Author and Institutional affiliation. The resource library tags content with author, institution, license, along with other metadata tags displayed on each resource’s individual page (example: https://delvedatabase.org/resources/delve-country-profile-central-african-republic).

4. Does the license of libraries/dependencies undermine the openess of the project?

Does this open project have mandatory dependencies (i.e. libraries, hardware) that create more restrictions than the original license?

Yes

If yes - are the open source components able to demonstrate independence from the closed component(s) and/or are there functional, open alternatives?

Yes

If yes - please describe how the open source components are independent and/or list the open alternatives for the closed component:

12% of all resources (86/749) in the ‘Resource Library’ are articles published in academic journals that restrict a user’s access behind the journal’s paywall. Delve’s seeks to promote awareness of the existing literature and data on the artisanal mining sector. Quantitative data points from restricted journal articles are still cited in the Delve platform’s dashboards fulfilling the primary goal of the platform. Users are able to identify the source and all biographical information required for citing these sources using the metadata tags in the Resource Library.

5. Is there documentation?

Does some documentation exist of the source code, use cases, and/or functional requirements. For software projects, this should be present as technical documentation that would allow a technical person unfamiliar with the project to launch and run the software. For datasets and data projects, this should be present as documentation that describes all the fields in the set, and provides context on how the data was collected and how it should be interpreted. For content collections, this should indicate any relevant compatible apps, software, hardware required to access the content and any instructions about how to use it.

Yes

If yes - please link to the relevant documentation:

Yes

If yes - describe the mechanism for extracting or importing non-personally identifiable information from the system in a non-proprietary format:

The Delve platform stores data points related to the artisanal mining sector around employment, production and revenue. These data points are listed in the data upload template. Users can extract this data from charts which contain this data in a CSV format from any dashboard visualization. The Delve platform also does collect non-personally identifiable information data on the use of the platform via Google Analytics. The site analytics are used to inform development and key metrics associated with site performance and usage.

  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 when operationally possible
  • Uniform Resource Identifiers when linking to externally hosted resources
  • PDF for document formatting in the Resource Library & all Delve publications
  • JPEG, PNG, CSV for multimedia exports of data visualizations

Can you point to evidence of your support? (i.e. please link to your validator, open test suite, etc.)

Was this project built and developed according to or in adherence with any design, technical and/or sector best practices or principles? i.e. the Principles for Digital Development?

Yes

Which principles and best practices does this project support (please list)

  • Delve platform supports the Principles for Digital Development. The platform's development involved user testing with target stakeholders following a eight month 'roadshow' that tested the concept and value proposition of the platform among sector professionals (target users). The roadshow also identified complementary initiatives and content that could be incorporated into the platform to avoid redundancies and duplication. The platform piloted a beta version of the platform in 2018 and released a full version 1.0 of the platform 2019. The platform's development relies on site analytics and user surveys and interviews to inform priorities and future development.
